Description
Port Dover is a famous tourist destination on the north shore of Lake Erie often referred to as Ontario's South Coast. Once boasting the largest fresh water fishing port in the world, the industry has declined over the past few decades, but it still supports a steady fishing business. Because Lake Erie is a relatively shallow lake, when a storm breaks out, its waters can be treacherous. Over the years, several brave fishermen have become victims to Lake Erie storms. In the year 2000, as part of Port Dover's millennium celebration, this memorial was unveiled to permanently honour the memory of these brave individuals.
