Description
Not actually a thrush, the Northern Waterthrush, (parkesia noveboracensis) despite its name, is actually a new world warbler, also referred to as a wood warbler. One of the larger wood warblers, the Northern Waterthrush inhabits swamps, bogs, slow-moving streams and ponds wading in shallow water while foraging for insects, arthropods, and snails. This Northern Waterthrush was photographed at Ontario’s Point Pelee National Park during the spring migration.
