Description
The Caledon Trailway is a recreational trail that stretches 26 km. across the Town of Caledon, a rural municipality northwest of Toronto. It is also part of the Trans-Canada trail system. The route follows an abandoned railway line built by the Hamilton and Northwestern Railway in the 1870s. The line was later amalgamated into the Canadian National Railway system and after it was decommissioned in 1989, it was acquired by the Town of Caledon and turned into a recreational trail for walking/hiking, biking and horseback riding.
