Artist's Description

The North American Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) is a subspecies of the Eurasian Brown Bear, in fact, it's often referred to as the North American Brown Bear. The fur color of Grizzlies ranges from cream and silver to cinnamon, brown or black. The long outer hairs are often tipped with white or silver adding a grizzled sheen to its appearance. The appearance of the Grizzly often depends on its geographical location. Bears along the Pacific coast are typically larger and darker. Smaller and lighter colored bears like this female, tend to occur in interior areas.
