Description
Sandhill Cranes (Grus Canadensis) are tall stately birds with brilliant red crowns. During migration, hundreds of thousands of these birds congregate at the Platte River on the edge of Nebraska's sandhills. This particular bird was photographed at Ontario's Long Point where several pairs breed during the spring. These birds are often harassed by Red-winged blackbirds if they venture too close to the latter bird's nesting site.
