Description
This large, round, chunky owl sporting a big head and well developed facial disk is one of North America's larger owls. It's sometimes referred to as the "hoot owl" or eight hooter for its distinctive call which sounds like: "who cooks for you, who cooks for you too". Unlike most North American owls that have yellow eyes, the Barred Owl is unique in that its eyes are dark brown.
