Description
These cute, energetic, sociable little members of the titmouse family are a favorite with almost everyone because of their curious nature, wanting to investigate everything around them, including humans. They can easily be enticed to feed from your hand. The black-capped chickadee is the state bird of both Maine and Massachusetts in the United States as well as the provincial bird of New Brunswick in Canada. They derive their name from their familiar call, "chick-adee-dee-dee".
Photographed at Silver Lake Park in Port Dover Ontario with a Canon 5D Mark III.
