Description
The Canvasback (aythya valisineria) is one of the larger North American diving ducks. They derived their name from their dusty white feathers which reminded settlers of a white canvas fabric. Canvasbacks are one of the fastest flyers, but their large webbed feet that make them graceful swimmers and divers make them slow and clumsy on land.
