Description
The Dunlin (calidris alpina) is a medium sized sandpiper typically observed wading and feeding on small food items consisting of insects, mollusks, worms and crustaceans in shallow water and mudflats along shorelines, marshes and other wetlands. They are easily recognizable with their reddish coloured back, black belly and long, drooping bill. A group of Dunlin are known as a "flight," "fling," or "trip."
