Description
The Evening Grosbeak (Coccothraustes vespertinus) is a large, heavyset member of the finch family. These birds are named from their thick, powerful cone shaped bills which enable them to crack open cones from spruce, balsam fir and pines. Their preferred habitat is dense coniferous North American Forests. Evening Grosbeaks are very social, often found in flocks and add a welcome splash of colour to the winter landscape.
