Description
The Galapagos Hawk (Buteo galapagoensis), is similar in size to red-tailed hawks and swainson's hawks. Endemic to the Galapagos Islands, it is the largest resident land bird in the Archipelago. The population of these majestic birds is declining due to habitat loss and prey caused by invasive plants and animals that alter the habitat and reduce available prey. Its population status is listed as vulnerable.
