Description
After he surfaced from one of his many dives, this red-breasted merganser came up with a real mouthful. He did his best to swallow the fish whole and did manage to get most of it down, but it was just too much. He'd literally bitten off more than he could chew. He tried valiantly to get his quarry under control while attempting not to draw attention to himself from the other ducks, but before long they caught on and the chase was on. This spectacle continued for a couple of minutes until the exhausted little merganser ran out of steam and had to let his prize escape. Photographed with a Canon 5D Mark III.
