Description
This magnificent bull elephant photographed in Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater is one of only 40 tuskers estimated remaining in Africa today. To qualify as a tusker the animal's tusks need to weigh in at 100 pounds each. These gigantic animals like all other elephants have become a victim of the ivory trade and, although illegal today, it still persists in the black market. Tuskers are rapidly disappearing off the face of the earth.
