Description
I captured this image a few years ago on slide film. The Dover Rose, a fresh-water fishing tug was built in 1947 by Erieau Shipbuilding and Engineering located on Ontario's north shore of Lake Erie. For many years, the Dover Rose was part of a large fresh water fishing fleet operating out of Port Dover, Ontario. During much of the 20th century, Port Dover was the largest fresh water fishing port in the world. The Dover Rose had seen better days, but was still docked in the harbor and with her rustic look, oozed with character. A year after this picture was taken, the Dover Rose sported a new paint job, that robbed her of the crusty appearance she'd previously sported.
