Description
The Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus), despite being a shy bird, is extremely vocal, with one of the loudest songs of any bird species. The loud teakettle, teakettle, teakettle song of the male carries long distances throughout its preferred habitat of dense vegetation in wooded areas. Carolina Wrens are easily identified by their rich cinnamon plumage, white eyebrow and long upward cocked tail while foraging for food. While singing, the tail tends to be held down as seen in this image. Carolina Wrens are monogamous with breeding pairs staying together for years.
