Lions (Panthera leo), the top predators of the African ecosystem, are the largest member of the cat family with males ranging from 150 to 250 kg. These powerful animals are capable of taking down 275 kg. zebras and 450 kg. cape buffalo. African lions live on the savannah grasslands of Central and South Africa. These mainly nocturnal animals spend up to 20 hours a day resting under a shady bush.

I'm a retired teacher living in Southern Ontario, Canada. I worked 35 years full time and 10 years part time as a classroom teacher and guidance counselor with the Peel District School Board. I also worked part time in the Faculties of Education of York University and the University of Toronto in their Additional Qualifications Programs. I purchased my first SLR camera back in the 60's and instantly fell in love with photography. My love of the outdoors led to my keen interest in hiking and nature/wildlife photography.
