Artist's Description
This medium sized diving duck is aptly named because of its round, bright red head. This along with its gray back, dark breast, blue beak and yellow eyes give the Redhead a striking appearance. Female Redheads often don't build nests of their own, but lay eggs in the nests of other birds including other Redheads and up to 10 other species of ducks. Redheads feed mainly on diving or dabbling, eating mainly aquatic plants and molluscs.
About Gary Hall
I'm a retired teacher living in Southern Ontario, Canada. I worked 35 years full time and 10 years part time as a classroom teacher and guidance counselor with the Peel District School Board. I also worked part time in the Faculties of Education of York University and the University of Toronto in their Additional Qualifications Programs. I purchased my first SLR camera back in the 60's and instantly fell in love with photography. My love of the outdoors led to my keen interest in hiking and nature/wildlife photography.
