A Waterbuck, a large, robust antelope with a shaggy coat is found in sub-Saharan Africa. It can easily be identified by the white elliptical ring around its rump, its large round ears and in the case of the male the long spiraling horns which sweep back and up. They inhabit scrub and savanna always close to a permanent source of water. Their habitat not only provides them with year round sources of food and water, but with a relatively easy escape route fromh hyenas, lions and leopards, their main predators.

I'm a retired teacher living in Southern Ontario, Canada. I worked 35 years full time and 10 years part time as a classroom teacher and guidance counselor with the Peel District School Board. I also worked part time in the Faculties of Education of York University and the University of Toronto in their Additional Qualifications Programs. I purchased my first SLR camera back in the 60's and instantly fell in love with photography. My love of the outdoors led to my keen interest in hiking and nature/wildlife photography.
