Description
It's been another very poor year for monarch butterflies in Southern Ontario. These butterflies travel over 3000 miles from their wintering grounds in Mexico to reach Southern Ontario. Monarchs are totally dependnt on milkweeds, their main food source and the only plant on which they lay their eggs. Over the past several years, the use of herbicides by North American farmers has drastically reduced this food source leading to the dramatic decline in the Monarch population over the past few years.
