Description
By the mid twentieth century, the Bald Eagle was in serious decline in North America from a number of factors including: trophy hunting, habitat loss along shorelines and the introduction of pesticides such as DDT that resulted in thin egg shells that broke as the adults tended to them. Following the banning of pesticides, specifically DDT, the Bald Eagle populations have made a slow and steady comeback and are now more common along the shores of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario in Southern Ontario.
