Description
Of the four kinds of Boobies found in the Galapagos (blue-footed, red-footed, brown and Nazca) the blue-footed is the most common. The blue color of the Blue-footed Booby's feet come from a pigment obtained in its fish diet. The brightness of its feet indicate the health of the bird. As a blue-footed booby ages, the brightness of its feet decreases. Females, therefore tend to select younger mates with more brightly colored feet since these males are more likely to be fertile and be better at providing food for their young.

Such excellent work and great composition and the use of the light to make the image really stand out!! v/f/t

Yes I echo "those blue feet" and the wonderful capture. What I think also strengthens this composition is the war sienna in the upper left-hand corner and the crazy textures of the grasses against the smoothness of the feathers.

The feet looked like they were deliberately painted this color! How beautiful this bird is! f/v
